Looking for things to do in New Port Richey this weekend? Come visit the exciting and expanding downtown area; the city has a lot to offer! New Port Richey has been working hard to revitalize its historic downtown district, providing a little something for everyone. And, of course, no trip through the downtown area is complete without exploring on your very own golf cart!
Over the years, Sim’s Park has seen some major upgrades in downtown New Port Richey. You can stroll down the boardwalks along the scenic Cotee River, visit the renovated playground or splash pad (don’t forget your swimsuit!), or catch a movie or concert during one of the many events held by the city.
During events, the city fills the park with food trucks, beer gardens, and many activities for children. In the center of the park is a large stage where you can catch some amazing concerts held on certain weekends (some of which are completely free to attend). The city also allows you to drive your golf cart into the park for certain events, which is a great way to soak in the fun.
Different Events in New Port Richey
Weekly events are held regularly throughout the city. Every Tuesday, there’s a farmer’s market held at the New Port Richey Library/ City Hall aptly named Tasty Tuesday. You can also catch a farmer’s market during some weekends; just be sure to stop at Wright’s Natural Market for current dates. Local artisans from all over come to sell their carefully crafted artwork and delicious fare (many of which are grown in their very own front yard gardens here in the downtown area).
On Saturdays, in the evening, check out Railroad Square where they regularly have vendors set up selling various wares. And, since it’s evening time, you can usually grab a drink to sip while you shop!
Annually, you can attend the city’s many special events including Chasco Fiesta, The Christmas Parade, Kia-Fest, Bike Fest, and more! Many gather from all over to attend; the city really comes to life!
Places to Eat in New Port Richey
If you’re not looking to buy produce, there is a variety of restaurants sprinkled throughout the downtown New Port Richey area.
Bourbon on Main
Grab a beer, eat way too many chicken wings, and soak in the music. This spot is a local favorite for those looking to catch a game or two on one of their many TVs.
Visit the area’s only rooftop bar overlooking Main St. at The Social. If you’re sharing with friends, don’t forget to “social size” your appetizers and drinks. You can also catch their very popular dueling piano show which they host frequently.
Arguably, one of the best sushi places around. We highly recommend the Tuna Nachos or Main St. Roll! Helmed by Chef Kazu, and perfected by his staff, Kazu’s Sushi has delivered unrivaled dishes since 2003!
A new addition to downtown eateries, Estuary takes fine dining to the next level. Here you can enjoy elegant seafood dishes or some gastropub favorites. The atmosphere is absolutely stunning and highly recommended for a date night.
The Commons on Grand
Want a little bit of everything? Visit the Commons on Grand! Located directly across from Sim’s Park, you can grab a slice of pizza at Back Draughts, enjoy a beer at Infusion Brewing, and top it all off with a scoop of ice cream from Cotee River Creamery, all without leaving their patio!
Breweries & Bars in Downtown New Port Richey
After dinner, grab a drink at one of the many breweries or bars located in the Downtown area!
Cotee River Brewery
Make your way over to Cotee River Brewery, the first brewery on the scene in Downtown NPR! Enjoy a delicious beer or spiced wine while watching live music. Sit outside on their patio along Main St. and take in the ambiance of the city.
Drink a masterfully crafted brew at Dented Keg! Their fresh, hoppy beer is unmatched with new favorites appearing on the menu every week. Catch a food truck parked outside for a convenient treat, and visit during one of their many game nights or live music.
This beer and wine bar is perfect for lounging with friends. Enjoy the stunning renovated architecture, try a beer or glass of wine you’ve likely never heard of, and try your hand at a game of shuffleboard.
Sip’s on Grand
This tiny treasure is both laid-back and elegant. Enjoy a delicious charcuterie board and a full-bodied glass of wine. Golf cart parking in the front and an outdoor patio make this a perfect evening stop!
If you feel up to exploring your wild side go line-dancing at the Kangaroo. This country bar is always busy and full of excitement! The new back patio facing Railroad Square makes it extremely accessible for your downtown stroll.
And, if you’re really feeling wild (well, hopefully not too wild), stop to throw real axes at a wooden target at Axe-Hole. While not necessarily a bar, beer is available, which makes it a great spot to relax with your friends and family. The staff here is super friendly and will make you an expert axe thrower in no time!
